KITCHEN OF THE MONTH
This stylish kitchen in Victory Heights really has the wow factor, with an extension into the garden making a huge space for the family to enjoy.
Gloss white handless cabinets are the foundation for the main design features, with a sleek modern look. The central island has a Silestone worktop in a Black 'Volcano' rough finish which gives a stunning textured contrast with the white lacquer.
A climber cabinet creates theatre and movement and also creates storage for regularly used small appliances, such as a toaster or blender. This dedicated space also keeps the counter free of clutter and cords.
A supermarket pantry system within the cabinets has pull-out shelves and racks, giving a clear view of the contents, while making items easy to access. Unfolding like origami, a pantry system means that cabinets are super-organised and you can find what you're looking for quickly and easily. Many systems are available, with different configurations, heights and shelving options.
Lighting is crucial in this kitchen and really pulls the design together. The main sink is placed below a stunning feature wall of floating cabinets with internal light shelves above a glass splash back. Lighting around the cabinets casts a contemporary vibe and glow. The island has plinth lights which creates atmosphere, adding depth and making the area a focal point.
The Miele extractor over the island is height adjustable and can be moved up and down as needed, which is functional as well as creating excitement and a central focus when cooking and entertaining. Other Miele appliances include two master cool fridge-freezers and one wine master cool fridge. Two Miele ovens and a microwave plus an induction hob complete the look.
IN THE NEWS
Emirates Home Kitchen Renovation
This month we featured In Emirates Home magazine, with a four page feature on a beautiful Hacker kitchen in Oceana on the Palm Jumeirah. Originally completely enclosed, Hacker worked closely with the client to remove two walls and design a brand new space that totally transformed its look and feel.
Senior designer David McCreath comments: "We knew from the outset that we could create something really stunning if we removed the internal walls, and we worked with the client to make sure that they had a practical and stunning room. The resulting kitchen is light, clean and airy and the perfect family space."
